Bhrigu Lake Trek 3 Night 4 Days

  • Manali
  • 3 Night 4 Days

Overview

The Bhrigu Lake Trek offers an unforgettable high-altitude experience just a short drive away from Manali. This trek is known for its panoramic meadows, sweeping views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, and the mystical Bhrigu Lake, which changes color with the seasons.

Unlike other high-altitude lake treks, you reach over 14,000 feet within just two days of trekking, making it ideal for those short on time but craving adventure. It’s said that the sage Maharishi Bhrigu meditated at the lake, adding spiritual charm to this natural wonder.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Manali – Transfer to Gulaba – Trek to Jonker Thatch / Gulaba Meadows

Arrive in Manali and drive to Gulaba (22 km / 1 hour), the starting point of the trek. Begin your trek through thick deodar forests and open meadows to reach Jonker Thatch, your first campsite. Enjoy your first night under the stars with a warm meal and cozy tents.

Day 2: Trek from Jonker Thatch to Bhrigu Lake and Back

Today is the highlight of the trek. After an early breakfast, begin the gradual ascent to Bhrigu Lake. The trail opens into lush green meadows, offering panoramic views of Hanuman Tibba, Seven Sisters, and other Himalayan peaks. Reach Bhrigu Lake (~14,100 ft) — a sacred, serene lake that remains partially frozen till June.

After spending some peaceful time at the lake, descend back to the same campsite.

Day 3: Descend to Gulaba – Return to Manali

After breakfast, begin your descent from Jonker Thatch back to Gulaba. From there, drive to Manali. The rest of the day is free for café-hopping, shopping, or relaxing by the river in Old Manali.

Day 4 (Optional): Manali Exploration or Departure

If staying an extra night in Manali, use this day for local sightseeing: Hadimba Temple, Old Manali cafes, Vashisht Hot Springs, and more. Depart in the evening by bus or taxi.
