Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kaza
Arrive in Kaza, the administrative center of Spiti Valley. After checking into your hotel, take time to acclimatize to the high altitude. In the evening, explore Kaza’s local market, visit cafes, or simply relax and enjoy the surrounding Himalayan views. Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 2: Kaza – Key Monastery – Kibber – Return to Kaza
After breakfast, visit Key Monastery, the largest and most picturesque monastery in Spiti, perched dramatically on a hilltop. Continue your journey to Kibber Village, one of the highest motorable villages in the world. Explore traditional homes and witness panoramic views of the Spiti River Valley. Return to Kaza for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Kaza – Tabo – Dhankar Village
Check out after breakfast and drive to Tabo Monastery, more than 1,000 years old and known for its stunning frescoes and spiritual significance. From there, proceed to Dhankar Village, once the seat of Spiti’s kings. Explore Dhankar Gompa, a historic monastery dramatically perched on a cliff above the confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers. Overnight stay at a traditional homestay in Dhankar.
Day 4: Dhankar Lake Trek – Return to Kaza
Early in the morning, begin a moderate trek to the peaceful Dhankar Lake, located about 2 km uphill from the village. Surrounded by rocky mountains, this secluded lake offers a serene and spiritual experience. After spending time at the lake, return to Dhankar, have lunch, and drive back to Kaza. Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 5: Departure from Kaza
After breakfast, check out and proceed for your onward journey. You may travel toward Manali or Shimla, depending on your chosen route, carrying unforgettable memories of Spiti’s spiritual and scenic wonders.
